Guatemala Hope for Lake Atitlan - Responding to Covid 19

Covid-19 is creating a devastating impact on coffee producers and their communities IN GUATEMALA.

The villages around Lake Atitlan are dependent on tourism and coffee production for the local economy. As a response to the Covid 19 worldwide pandemic, Guatemala has closed its borders, halting tourism, closing businesses, and stopping the coffee export process. We are working with Guatemala Hope for Lake Atitlan and Ethical Fashion Guatemala to develop economic alternatives to create work and income for the region. We’re not asking for a hand out - we’re asking you to participate through your strategic purchases. Here are two ways to partner with us: Please consider partnering with us by buying coffee and/or medical masks!

Purchase roasted coffee shipped from the farmer to your home or business!

We offer roasted coffee from three farmers in San Juan la Laguna. When you purchase their coffee, the farmer will roast and bag your coffee, then ship it directly to your home or business. After shipping costs, 100% of your coffee purchase will go to Guatemala - providing needed income for the farmer, supporting emergency food distribution by Mayan Families and the establishment of a sustainable bean farm cooperative through our Greater Good fund.

You get excellent coffee to enjoy with the knowledge that your purchase will have a significant economic impact for the farmer, his family, and the broader community! No hidden fees or money siphoned into our account.

Buy coffee directly from one of these farmers

Purchase critical medical masks

The medical masks are produced using two-ply, natural cotton. They are sold in packs of 100, 250 and 500. The cost is $5.00 per Mask including shipping to the US and Canada.

Larger quantities are available. Masks are shipped using the Ethical Fashion Guatemala DHL Global contract. Delivery to the United States and Canada is in three to four business days, worldwide in five to seven business days. Masks are sold directly to hospitals and medical groups in need; there are no wholesalers or brokers.

Thanks to the establishment of Mayan Families, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, twenty cents (20₵) of every mask sold will be donated directly to Mayan Families in order to provide food for those in need.

Mayan Families collaborates with Mayan communities and families in the Lake Atitlan region of Guatemala where there is limited access to needed resources and opportunities. Our programs include Education, Nutrition & Health, and Economic Development.

Twenty cents of your Mask purchases will directly fund our food security and malnutrition prevention work, which is needed more than ever now in this time of crisis. We are proud to collaborate with Ethical Fashion Guatemala and grateful for your support! www.MayanFamilies.Org
